What is Zakat?

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is an obligation for eligible Muslims to donate a portion (usually 2.5%) of their wealth to charity, specifically for the benefit of those in need. It is an act of purification and a way to share one’s blessings with others.

Who is eligible to receive Zakat?

Zakat is intended for those in need, including the poor, the needy, orphans, widows, people in debt, and those affected by natural disasters, war, or displacement. IBA ensures that all recipients meet the criteria specified in the Qur’an (9:60).

Can I pay my Zakat online?

Yes, you can easily fulfill your Zakat obligation through our secure online donation system. Your Zakat will be directed to eligible recipients in accordance with Islamic guidelines.

When is Zakat due?

Zakat is due once a year. However, it can be given at any time of the year based on your financial cycle. We encourage you to give your Zakat during the blessed month of Ramadan, but you can give it anytime that is convenient for you.

Can I give Zakat to family members?

Zakat can be given to family members if they meet the criteria of needing financial assistance, but you cannot give Zakat to those whom you are obligated to support financially, such as parents, children, or spouses.
